The water is calling. But before you go, here are important post-winterization best practices to keep your boat safe.
1) Reinstall your T-plug
2) Connect your batteries & make sure they are fully charged
3) Drop your boat in the water
4) While still on the trailer, start your engine & let it idle
5) Check your gauges. Confirm your oil pressure & engine temperature are normal according to your owner’s manual.
6) Open your engine hatch & visually inspect for any leaks, especially towards the back of the boat. (Note some smoke is normal.) Also check for any unusual smells.
7) If all seems fine, run your boat on plane for two minutes. Pull back to idle, open your engine hatch & visually inspect for any leaks again. Confirm your oil pressure & engine temperature are still normal according to your owner’s manual.
